PATNA: Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA) has decided to begin a sports movement in Bihar to boost the both long lost and new games, and sportspersons of the state. To give a fair chance to players to showcase their talent, the sports authority will be organizing a sports camp on May 26 here at Pataliputra Sports Complex. Addressing a press meet at Pataliputra Sports Complex on Friday, sports authority DG (Director General), Arvind Pandey said, “Many players had approached the state sports authority asking for support and encouragement, but their applications had been pending for the last two years. We have called all applicants on May 26 to show their talent and on the basis of their performance, a selection committee will select players and games. The selected players will be given chance to take part in the upcoming sports event 2015-16. The committee will also include new games selected for the event. The authority will urge the art, culture and youth affairs department to include new games in the sports event.” The nine new games, which have been offered to the state sports authority for the annual sports event, include rugby, flying disk, soft tennis, judo, cycling, rollball, and netball. Apart from them, around 30 new games will also be included in the interschool and school sports competition this year. “Sports should be encouraged in the state as extra-curricular activities as it will bring down the rising number of juvenile crime and human trafficking cases. Sports also help channelizing thoughts of youngsters,” Pandey said. Police force have also been asked to encourage students from schools and colleges to participate in various sports events which will help both, the youth and the police, to maintain law and order situation in the state.
